Biographical Sketch

Trevor Jones was born in Essex, England, in 1946. He studied Art at Colchester School of Art (1965-67), Sheffield College of Art & Design (1967-70) and Goldsmiths' College, University of London (1970-71), and taught in England at Faringdon School, Oxfordshire, until May 1980.

During the 1970s he spent two summers working in New York, traveled around the United States, visited Scotland, Norway, Switzerland and the Canadian Rockies.

In 1980, Jones emigrated to Canada. He and his first wife, Diana, moved to the Robson Valley in the British Columbia Central Interior. His house and studio are situated fifteen kilometers from McBride, in the Rocky Mountain Trench, at 2,300 ft above sea level.

Between 1981 and 2004 Jones taught part-time at McBride Secondary, providing the Art Instruction in that community school.

His daughter, Rachel, was born in 1981. (She has subsequently graduated with a degree in Painting from Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design.) He and his wife separated in 1988.

In 1989, Jones became a convinced Christian, and this has influenced subsequent work. (He is a member of CIVA, Christians in the Visual Arts.)

He married Norma in 1993. In 2003 and 2006 they traveled in Australia and New Zealand, and these journeys have been reflected in recent work. Jones retired from teaching in 2004, and now paints full-time.
